One of the most popular group exercise formats right now is high intensity interval training (HIIT), which many people refer to simply as boot camp fitness.
WHAT IS A BOOT CAMP FITNESS CLASS?
Boot camp fitness is usually comprised of a series of exercises that range from body weight calisthenics to power lifting movements, and everything in between. One of the reasons boot camps are so popular is because they give the instructor so much room to be creative, and to apply their own fitness background and ideas to the class, and often no two boot camps are exactly alike, which keeps things fresh and challenging. Typically, the instructor will pre designate a series of workout stations, and each station will be made up of timed sets ranging from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Boot camps usually last either 30 minutes or 1 hour, but given the flexibility of the class structure, it can be as long or short as the instructor wants to design it.
